These are thin, shell-like tooth-colored material made to cover the front surfaces of the teeth. This procedure enhances the appearance of a tooth by correcting the shade, shape, size, length and even minor crowding.
2 kinds of veneers:
Porcelain veneers – this procedure is laboratory-fabricated using ceramic material. Superior in regards with esthetic and strength, and so it remains as the best material of choice for veneers.
Composite veneers – this can be done directly on the tooth, or laboratory fabricated. Material used for this is resin composite, same material used for regular fillings but reinforced or stronger than the usual.
COMPOSITE BONDING AND SCULPTING
Enhances the appearance of the tooth, especially those with decay or fracture. Procedure involves removal of the discoloration which is then replaced with a tooth-colored resin composite, and is then sculpted making the filling to appear natural.
This procedure is also applicable for closing gaps in between teeth and is called as
diastema closure.
TEETH WHITENING
Also known as teeth bleaching, is a simple, non-invasive procedure of enhancing one’s smile through whiter teeth.
Two methods of teeth whitening:
In-office teeth whitening – It refers to the application of the bleaching gel onto the tooth’s surface, which is then activated by light. This results to an instant whiter smile of up
to 7 shades lighter, in just a single visit.
Take-home whitening – It refers to professionally dispensed whitening kit which contains a lower concentration of bleaching gel which is safe for self- application. The gel is placed on a custom-made bleaching tray and is worn depending on to the dentist’s instructions.
